Australian dance artist Odd Mob has dropped his new EP, Club Rompas. To celebrate the release, the musician is taking MILKY through the release track by track!
"Club Rompas simply does what it says on the label. It serves no other purpose than slapping you in the face in the club haha. This EP came around after my first tour in the US post covid. 24 hours or so in Chicago had myself and Birthdayy Partyy with the first version of Underground. That same night I also met Basura Boyz who later sent me a bunch of sick little one liners that ended up on Blisters On My Feet and ‘Guest List".

Started off with the rolling bassline & then slapped my vocal on the top first take. Then the lead is a random percussion sample (hi hat from memory) pitched down about 27 semitones!
UNDERGROUND WITH BIRTHDAYY PARTYY
I met up with the Birthdayy Partyy boys in Chicago when I played there last. Bryan had the main arp melody already going and had posted it on his insta story. I instantly felt that we could turn that arp into something cracked & we laid out the majority of the track in one sitting!
GUEST LIST FEAT. BASURA BOYS
I jumped on my insta and put a blind call out for toplines. Nick from Basura Boyz came back like 3 days later with a whole bunch of sick phrases that I used in Guest List and Blisters On My Feet. I wanted this track to just be another super duper simple banger that you can instantly get around in the club.

This track was originally at 140bpm speed house banger thing, but i felt like it didn't really have enough of a hooky lead. So I basically stripped it all the way back to the drums and instead reworked it around a nostalgic big room lead rather than a typical tech house bassline. I've been getting around a bit of that off-beat bass 130+ stuff lately so also changed the bassline to match :)
