Proud Yuin artist, producer and radio host, Nooky has released his new single, We Are Warriors. Featuring Mi-Kaisha, the release is accompanied by a new documentary, Through The Fire, which premiered last night at Blak Powerhouse, presented by the musicians First Nations social enterprise We Are Warriors (WAW).

The powerful track takes its inspiration from the story of the Black Cockatoo and is compired of three sections: The Fire Inside, Going Through the Fire and Resilience / Healing. The melodic track captures a story of resilience and hope against all odds, capturing the principles of WAW with Nooky sharing his own journey above moving piano melodies. His melodic flow then unfurls above dynamic production as he states "see it to be it", before Mi-Kaisha's captivating tones lead the song towards its climax.

On January 26 last year, Nooky launched We Are Warriors, a cultural movement and platform that aims to inspire and empower Indigenous youth by connecting them with First Nations role models. Having partnered with global creative agency R/GA, Nooky the platform serves as a space that celebrates Blak excellence and provides Indigenous youth a chance to engage with content and workshops that strives to empower each viewer and participant.

Last night, We Are Warriors took over Sydney's Powerhouse Museum for a celebration of Blak excellence, dubbed Blak Powerhouse. Hosted on one of the most polarising dates of the year, the event served as a celebration of First Nations culture and art, with performances by Nooky, Kobie Dee, Barkaa, KANADA THE LOOP, Mi-Kaisha, Hylander, Tom Foolery and Lil Arts, as well as visual art exhibitions from Luke Currie-Richardson, Coffin Birth and Squat Deadface.
