Los Angeles producer Mndsgn is back with his nostalgic new single, Hope You're Doing Better. The track is set to appear on the musicians forthcoming record, Rare Pleasure, due out this June.
The track is a harmonious blend of 70's psych-pop, bringing nostalgic sounds into a contemporary landscape. The songs visual was directed by the musician himself, personifying the tracks hazy groove with warm surreal imagery and whimsical imagery.
Mndsgn began working on Rare Pleasure in 2018, the collection of songs take their inspiration from soundtrack music, samba, exotica and '70s/'80s library records, to create an intimate listening experience when paired with personal and reflective lyricism. Despite the tenderness of the recordings, the album is set to be joyfully vibrant and draw on the musicians formative experiences as a b-boy, showcasing a range of rhythms that will make you want to groove.
The record was recorded in just one week in a studio with the help of trusted collaborators: Swarvy on bass, guitar and as Musical Director for the sessions, Stones Throw label mate Kiefer Shackelford on keys, drum work by Will Logan, the blessed percussion of Carlos Niño, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson on strings, and accompanying vocals from Fousheéand Anna Wise.
