INTRODUCING HIGHSCHOOL

Watch our interview with HighSchool below!

Post-punk outfit HighSchool have delivered their sophomore EP, Accelerator. We caught up with the duo to unpack the release, their evolution and so much more.

Having relocated to London in 2022, the EP was born from sessions bands practice writing space in Peckham. Throughout Accelerator, Rory Trobbiani's luring vocal performance brings thought-provoking and introspective lyricism to life, as the band explore themes of nostalgia, adolescence and young love. There's a particular focus on expectation vs reality and self-actualisation, and how the everyday cycle of life leaves you with a sense of dissatisfaction.

Produced by Finn Billingham, mixed by GRAMMY-winning engineer Philippe Weiss (Earl Sweatshirt, Nas, Drake) and mastered by Blur and Depeche Mode producer Ben Hillier, the collection of songs finds the band expanding their sonic palette, introducing threads of lo-fi bedroom-pop within their signature beguiling post=punk realm. Hazy soundscapes unfurl throughout, driven by mesmerising rhythm sections and propulsive beats.

The musical project of Trobbiani and Luke Scott, HighSchool made their debut in 2021 with Forever At Last. The EP introduced the world to their lo-fi palette, and resulted in the duo touring alongside Wet Leg, CHVRCHES and NewDad, and hitting the stage at festivals including All Points East, End of the Road, The Great Escape, Manchester Pysch Festival, Sea Change, Standon Calling and Visions. Late last year, HighSchool announced their signing to [PIAS] Australia, and will hit the road across Europe and the UK in the coming months in support of Accelerator.
