MILEY CYRUS AND DUA LIPA KNOCK OUR SOCKS OFF WITH 'PRISONER'

It’s the collaboration we’ve all been waiting for! Pop star turned rock star but forever a super star Miley Cyrus has teamed up with everyones favourite retro pop chart topper Dua Lipa on their insane new collaboration, Prisoner.

Bringing the 80's disco vibes to 70's rock n roll heaven, the song is about the hold an ex-lover can have on you, making it hard to leave. The song marks the pairs first released collaboration, having worked on tracks in the past that ended up on the cutting room floor. Cyrus' gritty and commanding vocal performance is perfectly complimented by Lipa's smooth vocals. Each singer brings their own flair to the track, which we're dubbing one of the best collaborations of 2020.

Directed By Alana O’Herlihy and Cyrus, the visual begins with a fly being swatted, before Cyrus' lips take over the frame, reminiscent of the opening sequence of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The duo bring the heat to the retro visual as they joyride in a motor home, before taking the stage in a New York City dive bar. The clip ends with the message: "In loving memory of all my exes. Eat shit". Once again, Cyrus has delivered a stellar visual for another standout track, making this new era of her career one of her best.

Cyrus is set to release her seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts, next Friday! Initially intended to be released last year under the title She Is Miley Cyrus, the record was delayed due to a number of reasons, including the singer undergoing vocal surgery and the COVID-19 pandemic. After losing some material in the fire that burnt her house to the ground, the singer scrapped all the original material for the record, sharing: “I began this album over 2 years ago. Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record with its songs and sounds but my whole fucking life. But no one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the musics relevance…I lost my house in a fire but found myself in its ashes.“

Plastic Hearts is set to be an exploration of rock ’n’ roll, with Cyrus having been influenced by the genre since she was a child. Boasting a number of high profile collaborations, the record sees Cyrus team up with Lipa, Billy Idol, Joan Jett and the legendary Stevie Nicks, who recently appeared on a remix of Midnight Sky. Dubbed Edge Of Midnight, the track fuses together Cyrus’ chart topping track with Nick’s iconic song, Edge of Seventeen. Production wise, Cyrus has again enlisted Andrew Watt for the bulk of the record, with Mark Ronson co-writing and producing three songs. The record will also feature Cyrus’ acclaimed live covers of Blondie’s Heart Of Glass and The Cranberries Zombie.

Prisoner is out now! Watch the music video below. Plastic Hearts is out next Friday.
