Australian band MID CITY have announced the release of their forthcoming EP, Wishing For The Best, due out next month. The announcement is accompanied by the release of the EP’s lead single, Liar Liar.

Produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter), the band make their grand return, bringing their signature indie-rock sounds to the stellar song. The fearless track is laced with pounding drum kicks and ferocious guitar melodies, and a smokey vocal performance from lead vocalist Joel Griffith.

“What started out as a beast of an instrumental, 'Liar Liar' took its final form when I forced myself out of town to a kitch-as-hell 1950's caravan out past the Dandenongs”, Griffith explains. “It was here, as the valley filled with heavy smoke haze, that I put pen to paper and conjured the demons needed to match melody with meaning.”

Wishing For The Best is the bands first full-length body of work since their debut EP Die Waiting. On their debut, MID CITY captivated listeners with their standout track Old Habits, which peaked at #9 on triple j most played and amassed over 2 million streams on across platforms. The song charted in Germany after TV/podcast star Ollie Shultz shared the track. On the back of the success of Old Habits, the band embarked on an 18 date international tour, also performing sets at BIGSOUND, Reeperbahn Festival and NYE On The Hill.

Liar Liar is out now! Listen to the track below.
