MAZY'S FAVOURITE FLOWERS

Flowers is out now!

Sydney psych-rock newcomers Mazy recently shared their new single, Flowers. To celebrate the release, the trio have shared their favourite flowers with MILKY!

Speaking of the track, Mazy share: "This track was definitely a fun one to work on. We wanted to dive into a 60’s sound palette that we all love and see where it took us. A lot of the time we’ll write songs completely on an acoustic before thinking about production so tackling this one using the experience as the inspiration was a nice change. Brian Wilson is a massive influence for us and we definitely took a nod to him with the harmonies in the chorus. We wanted the sonic vibe to really paint the lyric and create a colourful, mercurial world that was unpredictable and.. yeah, psychedelic. We love playing this track live and the faster tempo and high energy is a welcome change from some of our slower songs.”

Without further adieu, here are Mazy's favourite flowers...

THE STONE ROSES

In my memory, their frsti record had flowers all over, but when i looked it up, it was just a Jackson Pollock with lemons. Still in the name tho.

LAST OF THE ENGLISH ROSES - PETE DOHERTY

Not for everyone, but a poet of some worth. I just like the idea of him calling Kate Moss and being "but I love you, you're the last of the english roses."

BLUE ORCHID - THE WHITE STRIPES

I don't really know what an orchid is, or why a blue one would be special, but that guitar riff is a thing of beauty.

THE ROSE FROM THE TRUE LIES TANGO SCENE

So this one rose, Arnie grabs it from a vase, and then it proceeds to change hands and mouths between Jamie Lee Curtis and himself as they rock the ever loving shit out of that tango. Por una Cabeza è magnifico!

SUNFLOWERS - VINCENT VAN GOGH

I've seen this painting at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam and they were the best flowers i've ever seen. Real life is pathetic compared to Van Gogh.
