Multiplatinum selling global superstar Khalid has made his long-awaited return, sharing his superb new single, present. Alongside the release comes the announcement of the musicians new tape, Scenic Drive, which is set to arrive this December and serves as a companion piece to 2018's Sun City.
Foraying into more R&B based sounds, present is all about living in moment and spending time with your significant other without distraction. Khalid's smooth vocals simmer above captivating and bouncy production, made complete with a hypnotising guitar melody.
Speaking of the track, the musician shares: “I’ve had the chance to listen to a lot of music and also push myself creatively while I’m recording. My Mom raised me on R&B and whether it’s the harmonies or melodies, it will always be a part of my music. Present is just the beginning and I love that it has a dual meaning. It feels good to be more “present” after such a trying year in the pandemic and it’s also a “present” for my fans that have been with me every step of the way.”
The six-time Grammy-nominated musician burst onto the scene with his 5x platinum debut single, Location, taken from his debut album, the double platinum-certified, American Teen. His follow up record, Free Spirit, received critical acclaim and spawned the Free Spirit World Tour, which took the singer arenas across the globe, including a national Australian Tour. Khalid has collaborated with the likes of Halsey, Billie Eilish, Normani and Benny Blanco, showcasing his versatility as an artist throughout his collaborations and releases, and alongside his mother he launched The Great Khalid Foundation, which is committed to helping families by alleviating a burden of need.
