Meanjin/Brisbane-based alternative pop duo JUNO have dropped their new single, come thru. To celebrate the release, vocalist Kahlia Ferguson has shared with MILKY their top five female-fronted emerging bands in Brisbane.

"come thru is about wanting to give your all to a relationship, but only if the other person is willing to do the same. I've had some awful past relationships where I constantly felt like I was giving everything to people who didn't give the same in return. Before entering my current relationship, I was really clear that if I'm going to commit to this, I need them to show up and support me and give as much I will. This song is about wanting a relationship to be a two-way street." the duo share of the track.

To celebrate the release, JUNO will be hitting the road on an east coast tour. Kicking off tonight at Gods Bandroom in Bunurong/Mornington, the run of shows will continue on to Naarm/Melbourne, Ladji Ladji/Mildura and Ngunnawal/Canberra, before wrapping up at Eora/Sydney's The Lady Hamphire on April 15.

Dizzy Days sure do know how to write a disco pop banger. They’re are an all-female pop band who are making waves here in Meanjin! Their first single ‘Take My Heart’ is such an earworm and I’m very excited to hear what they release next.

These three women make such a powerhouse trio. Their vibe is a unique blend of neo-soul, jazz, and dance music. Every tune they released last year was an absolute banger and their show is so sick. A must-see act.

Stop what you’re doing and immediately go and listen to ‘Take Me Home’. These guys are one of my favourite Meanjin bands. Mads is such a sick front person and they have so many brilliant songs in the works.

Huge things are in the works for this woman. She’s an amazing soulful artist who so effortlessly keeps her audiences in the palm of her hand. Ruby has kicked some serious goals in the last couple of years, but I suspect 2023 is going to be a whole new level for her!

There’s something about female-fronted rock bands that just GETS me. Annie is an amazing frontwoman on stage and all the band’s songs are just a huge vibe. They’ve been playing so many sick shows lately and I can really see this band doing awesome things this year.
