Julia Stone has made her highly anticipated return, releasing her new solo single, Break. A departure from her folk sounds and origin, the track utilises synthesised sounds with sweeping horns.
The track is about being alive and the feeling of new love. Of the track, Stone said “It’s when you first meet somebody, and you have that connection, and your chemicals go crazy. It’s about enjoying that first moment, without considering what comes next”. Break was produced by St. Vincent and Thomas Bartlett with contributions from Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint and Bryce Dessner.
The release is accompanied by a beautifully crafted music video. In the clip, Stone can be seen with a troupe of dancers, making their way through the streets of New Mexico. Directed by LA-based Australian director Jessie Hill, designer Paolo Alfaro created custom-made costumes, sourcing fabrics and materials from local suppliers.
