Sydney-based singer-songwriter Jessica Tori has unveiled her new single, Complicated. Produced by Ben Panucci, the track marks the first release from the singer since the arrival of her 2022 EP, The Truth About Me (Live).

Opening with Tori's vocals above lulled guitar work, the tension of the song builds with the addition of violins and percussion to create a beguiling and textural soundscape. At times Tori's sharp vocals pierce through the songs instrumentation in a dissonant manner, adding to the songs taunt and brooding nature. Storytelling lyricism captures an intimate representation of blossoming romance and the swirling emotions that follow.

"This is a big step for me and a real moment of vulnerability... I worked with producer Ben Panucci on this track, and what I’m most proud of is the sonic landscape and build throughout, which really speaks to the rising tension and messiness that is reflective of when first dates get complicated." Tori shares of the release.

Inspired be attending one of Laura Marling’s performances in Sydney, the singer re-routed her musical attention, focusing on creating an intimate sonic palette that juxtaposes her previous work with electronic-based artists. Prior to her debut solo release, the singer has toured and collaborated with RÜFÜS DU SOL, Toucan, Makaw, Chores and Xillions.
