Brisbane’s Girl and Girl recently shared their expanded EP, Divorce +. We caught up with the band in Sydney to chat about the release and so much more!
Across the body of work, the band explore the complexity of relationships with a focus on the effects of divorce. Armed with a brand new track, All I See, the EP finds the four-piece pushing up against their established sound and presenting a matured sonic exploration. Earlier this year, the band signed to iconic indie label Sub Pop, joining the likes of Father John Misty, Weyes Blood, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Orville Peck, and Virgin Music Australia.
Having performed in a number of bands throughout her life, Aunty Liss teamed up with her nephew Kai James, and his two friends Jayden Williams and Coby Williams to form Girl and Girl. Having released a string of singles since their formation, the band released their debut EP, A Typical Friday Night (Shame, Sex and Misery), in 2021, followed by Divorce late last year.
