New York-based singer-songwriter INJI has shared her new single, BELLYDANCING. To celebrate the release, the singer has shared with MILKY her five favourite tracks to get the party started.
UNTZ UNTZ - INJI
Don’t wanna be cheesy, but the whole point of my music is to “get the party started” so I’m going to have to be biased and pick a song my yours truly to put at the top of the list. Not only is UNTZ UNTZ a banging, face squirming club track, it also has lyrics you can learn in one listen that are perfect for some tipsy singing along. Let your inner ‘club rat’ free next time you’re getting ready to go out, and give this song a listen.
RELAX MY EYES - ANOTR, ABEL BALDER
This song is the perfect non-risky choice. It’s calm and pretty enough to fill the background as people trickle in, but if the moment is right, it’s also the perfect moment to close the lights and get people to ‘relax their eyes’ and feel the music. One of my favorite dance tracks of the year. Beautiful lyrics!
DON’T START NOW - DUA LIPA
Went a little too far down the EDM lane? Are you losing some of your friends who want something they’ve heard before? Just slap on some Dua, and watch everyone from the girlies to the manliest dudes give their vocal chords some work to do.
PURPLE HAT - SOFI TUKKER
This might be the song that got me into dance music. The song has it all! Beautiful female vocals, ‘Tukker’ ear-catching bass voice, electric guitar, edm drums? I don’t know what more you could need. One of my favorite party tracks of all time, it’s undeniably legendary.
WHERE YOU ARE - JOHN SUMMIT, HAYLA
It’s getting late. I don’t want to small talk anymore, but some pop might be too much for me as well. Slap on this 2023 banger and you’ll get me shouting “I WANNA BE WHERE YOU ARE” like I’m Mariah Carey for a good 3 minutes 56 seconds.
