Sydney band Grids and Dots have today released their new single, Hazey Jane. A re-imagining of the classic Nick Drake song, the trio create a sparkling new soundscape for the poetic lyricism set out by Drake. The melodic transfusion of their interpretation is filled with signature Grids and Dots sonic moments.
The music video follows a young woman, played by guitarist and co-lead singer Carmen Minikus, who is navigating her way through life whilst her thoughts follow her around in the form of a hazy cloud.
Grids & Dots are the melodic noise project of visual designers Daniel Handaru and Carmen Minikus, with Pat Hisshion on drums. Known for capturing the ebbs and flows of everyday life, the bands music is filled with melody and romance paired with principal songwriter Handaru's quirky and poetic observations of the world around him. The band take influence from 80s synth-pop sense of harmonies, whilst also referencing the fuzzy noise of shoe gaze bands that followed in the later decades.
