Newcastle’s FRITZ, the musical project of Tilly Murphy, has announced the release of her sophomore record, Pastel, due out next month. The announcement is accompanied by the release of a new track from the record, Die Happily.

The release is a love song dedicated to the idea of everlasting platonic relationships. Of the track Murphy explains: “Die Happily is about wanting to be around a best friend forever and treasuring every moment spent with them. I think the phrase “die happily” isn’t used enough… I think its very powerful and perfectly sums up the way I felt when I was living these moments with my friends."

Pastel was recorded over the course of 2019 and 2020 with Newcastle producer Fraser Marshall (Raave Tapes, Split Feed) and examines the growing pains, the push and pull of adolescence. Deeply rooted in nostalgia, Murphy said of the record “I started writing this album 3 years ago. It reflects my growth musically and personally over the past three years. It’s a body of work that truly represents my becoming of a young adult from a teenager.”

Die Happily is out now! Listen to the song below.
