FIVE ALBUMS THAT INSPIRED HARRISON STORM'S 'WONDER, WON’T YOU?'

Australian indie folk singer/songwriter Harrison Storm has unveiled his debut album, Wonder, Won't You?. To celebrate the release, the musician has shared with MILKY five albums that inspired him whilst creating the body of work.

“For me, music is a lot about self-discovery and honesty,” Harrison says. “My stories have a lot to do with connection and connecting with myself, but also really trying to connect with the world. Growing up, I could never really find my place or fit in. When I write a song, it helps me realise that all these emotions and learnings are just part of the human experience, and that it’s okay to have those heavy and introspective thoughts." Storm shares.

“This collection of songs feels like it sums up the past few years for me as best I could. There's a sprinkle of everything I've been through. Falling in love, facing and getting through mental health issues and ultimately striving to connect more with myself and the world. It's been really healing to sit with these songs before I've shared them to the world as well, but I can't wait for people to discover something through this album.”

Storm will kick off his national Wonder, Won't You? tour at Sydney's The Lansdowne on February 22. The run of shows will continue on to Melbourne's Howler, Brisbane's Valley Loft and Adelaide's The Wheatsheaf Hotel, before wrapping up at Mojo's in Perth on March 9. Tickets are on sale now!

GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV - EVENING MACHINES

I have a handful of albums that I listen to on repeat when I’m travelling long distances in the car or on a plane. This album is one of those and every time I listen to it, I find something new. It’s a true gem. The way he weaves intricate stories with his beautiful melodies is truly remarkable!

ASGEIR - TIME ON MY HANDS

I discovered this album when I was touring Europe with Ocie Elliott in 2022, when I was in the middle of writing songs for my own album. I would lay in the back of the touring van and close my eyes while listening to Asgeir and drift in and out of sleep because it feels like such a homely album. I still listen to this album regularly. It is a whole universe in itself.

LUCA FOGALE - NOTHING IS LOST

Luca is one of my favourite songwriters. His sensitivity and ability to make such sweet observations on his world are beautiful. I try to take a leaf from his book and apply that to my own songwriting and perspectives.

BEN HOWARD - NOONDAY DREAM

One of my favourite Ben Howard albums and rightfully so. This album is a sonic and atmospheric odyssey. We took a lot of inspiration from some of the sound beds that Ben and his band put together for my album. Always and forever a huge inspiration to me.

THE PAPER KITES - ON THE TRAIN RIDE HOME

For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a big Paper Kites fan, and this album carried me through some tougher times. There something about the songwriting here that is so heart felt and real that I think it’s impossible not to be moved.
