Rising British/Greek singer, songwriter and producer Eleni Drake has dropped her new single, Half Alive, alongside the announcement of her new album CHUCK. To celebrate the release, the singer has shared with MILKY her favourite Australian artists.

“It’s about the conflict between missing someone, yearning to be alone, and ultimately realising they are not right for you and understanding a situation is far more manipulative and disappointing upon reflection,” she says of her latest offering.

ROYEL OTIS

A new addition to my love for Australian bands! I only really discovered them a couple of years ago, only to find out that they’re huge! Great musicians, love the energy they portray in their music. Razor teeth (Sofa Kings), was such a blast in the past for me, reminding me of British bands I grew up listening to relentlessly.

SPACEY JANE

Have absolutely adored this band for a few years now. Much like anyone who’s heard them, it started with Booster Seat, and continued heavily from there. They just release great music after great music

DMA’S

We all know. The cover that cascaded it all. Instantly a fan. ‘The Glow’ was such an undeniably great album from start to finish. I wish I wrote the song ‘Silver’. My Spotify wrapped was basically full of DMAS in 2020.

TASH SULTANA

Who doesn’t adore this person?! I remember hearing them yearrrrs ago when they released Jungle, and I was instantly hooked. A multi instrumentalist, phenomenal song-writer and producer. Their musicality blows my mind with every album they release. Particularly love their guitar tones

SKEGGS

I remember hearing these guys about 10 years ago, and they completely embodied “care free, go outside and have some fun” energy. I loved how their music made me feel, and how it continues to make me feel. There’s a sweet nostalgic, rose tinted glasses sort of flare to them. Great band

HOCKEY DAD

Their song Seaweed started it all for me. Absolutely destroyed me. I love their sound, their energy, their cool flair. Boronia is an epic little album, great song writing.

AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS

One of the best bands to come out in recent times in my opinion, they’re music is a great balance of political, important messaging, fun, loose and a reminder that you can be part of the good fight whilst head banging. Additionally, Amy is an outstanding front woman, with insane charisma, and always nothing but positive and good words to say at her shows. What a woman

THE GROGANS

Just What You Want”, was a heavily rotated anthem album to my 2020 lock down. Just great energy, beautiful messages, and as always, that effortless, not overly produced sound that i think a lot of Aussie bands do so seamlessly

VANILLA GORILLA

Just captures Australian surf, chill, summer music to me. Easy listening, great to put on when you're driving in the car for a long time, or in my case - great music to listen to when I'm watching sunrises or sunsets. Evokes memories in me every time i hear their sound.

CHUCK is out October 31. Listen to Half Alive below.
