Swedish dance-pop producer Discrete is back with an absolute banger! Bringing together Canadian pop hitmaker Kiesza, Icelandic singer/songwriter Ouse, and Colombian artist/actor Dylan Fuentes, Drown In Me brings together each artists vibrant and diverse styles into one succinct track.
Conceptually, the track the fragility of romance, with each artist sharing their own war stories, set atop the producers scintillating, neon production. Build upon insistent beats and electric synthesisers, the shimmering gem of a track also serves as a reminder to dance your problems away, no matter how messy a spot you're in.
Written in 2019 and finished during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song takes on a new form after a year of isolation and being disconnected from one another. “This record wouldn’t have turned out the way it did if it wasn’t for the lockdowns across the world,” Discrete shares. “I’ve never met Ouse, Dylan, or Kiesza in person. They all contributed to the song remotely from their part of the world, and I think that uniqueness gives the song a special global feel. Although lockdowns put a stop to many things in our lives, they’ve also proven that passion for music will never die.”
The release arrives with an official visual, capturing the thematics of the track and reinforcing the idea of bridging the gaps between people. In the clip, each artist is depicted within their own surreal realms, showcasing their own differences, yet still united through the electric spirit of the track.
Last year saw the producer extraordinaire release his debut EP, EXPLORE, a collection of dancefloor-filling tracks that was accompanied by a handful of standalone singles, including his collaboration with fellow Swedish artist Pawl. With over 85 million streams, this is only the beginning of Discrete’s takeover.
