We sat down with George Maple to talk about her new hyperreality, visual and musical production, MYTH, right after its premiere at the Sydney Opera House. The short film stars Maple and Australian supermodel Jordan Barrett.
Written and directed by singer-songwriter and producer herself, the visual was filmed and edited entirely in a virtual production studio at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. The narrative follows the intimate story of two star-crossed lovers, Luna played by Maple and Sol by Barrett, born into a genetically engineered society The New Monarchy and whose intense love fractures, shifting course to inevitably become abandoned.
Aussie supermodel Jordan Barret has previously worked with Maple on the music video for her 2017 song, Lover. Making his transition into film, the 24 year old recently produced and stared in Love Sick (2020) after making his acting debut in Carte Blanche (2019), directed by Eva Dolezalova. MYTH marks the models debut Australian production.
After featuring on tracks from the likes of Flight Facilities, Hayden James, DJ Snake and Flume, Maple released her debut record Lover in 2017. Debuting at #2 on the national iTunes chart, the singer found herself performing nationwide, including supporting New Zealand superstar Lorde on her 2017 Australian leg of her Melodrama Tour.
