Brisbane band DIAL have dropped their new single, Sometimes Soon. The track serves as the third taste of their debut EP, due out this August.
Continuing their nostalgia-fuelled sonic exploration, the songs psych-meets-shoegaze soundscape is led by mesmerising guitar work and simmering percussion unfurling beneath Elijah David’s beguiling vocal performance. Building in anticipation towards a frenetic ending, the song captures the bands synergy as a four-piece and their ability to craft an engaging piece of music. Making reference to their own musical influences such as Primal Scream and My Bloody Valentine through its lyricism, Sometimes Soon explores the return to a former flame.
“Sometimes Soon is somewhat of a homage to the Brit-pop and Shoegaze movements that defined the 1990s. The title directly references ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Soon’ by My Bloody Valentine and within the song, the main vocal line, “Lower than the sun," serves as a deliberate reference to Primal Scream - which probably symbolises our state of mind during the writing process.” the band share.
To celebrate the release, the band will host an exclusive single launch at Brisbane’s The Brightside this Sunday, June 18. Supported by Square and Fraser Bell, tickets are on sale now. Following the launch show, DIAL will support Zebra Finch at Sol Bar in Maroochydore on June 30.
