Sydney-based alt-pop producer and singer-songwriter CYRUS is back! The X-Factor Australia winner has unveiled his new track Love Online, and announced the release of his debut EP, had, lost.
The intimate and introspective track comments on the weight of communication and shared experiences, dispelling finding love online and that lack of intimate connection through a phone screen. CYRUS' falsetto vocals float above mesmerising percussion, made complete with a soaring guitar solo.
“Love Online is about my desire to prioritise communicating and sharing love, experiencing other people in real life as opposed to through a screen. It came about in the period of time between my breakup and the relationship that I'm in currently. I was on Instagram and dating apps trying to meet new people, just be single. And it would just be the same stuff over and over again. [I was] hoping for some sort of magical connection [but was] always falling flat.”
had, lost is set to detail the demise of a long-term relationship, and marks the first extended body of work from the musician since his 2015 self-titled album. Over the past three years, CYRUS has built his name within the production realm, having worked with the likes of Client Liaison, CXLOE, Glades. Love Online is the second taste of the musicians forthcoming EP, following on from Facts.
