CHARLIE COLLINS: 'UNDONE', STARTING OVER AND SHOWING HER CAREFREE SIDE

Watch our interview with Charlie Collins!

Acclaimed singer and songwriter Charlie Collins has returned, treating us all with the release of her hotly-anticipated sophomore album, Undone. We caught up with the musician to chat about the album, re-working the album, foraying into producing and so much more!

Born in the wake of the end of her marriage, the record offers an intimate and vulnerable look into Collins' emotions, whilst also embracing a new found strength. On Backseat Valentine, penned alongside frequent collaborator Xavier Dunn (Jack River, GRAACE) in under an hour, the singer offers a new side of her psyche to listeners, bringing out her playful and carefree side. Elsewhere, Skyline documents the immediate emotions that linger as a relationship meets its demise, offering one of the albums most vulnerable moments, which continues into the piano-led November, which alongside Couldn’t Have Loved You Anymore serves as the singers production debut.

Sonically, the album pushes up against traditional genre boundaries and the sounds explored on Collins' ARIA nominated and AIR award winning debut, Snowpine. Effortlessly weaving together threads of country, folk, indie-pop and rock, the singers mesmerising and captivating vocals take centre stage above immersive production. Across the record, Collins enlists an illustrious list of collaborators. She teamed up with longtime friend Jarryd James on Hit The Lights, Japanese Wallpaper's Gabriel Strum on Just My Luck, her ex-husband Chris Collins on the albums title track, Scott Horscroft, Joji Malani, Mitchell Sexty, Robby De Sa, Ned Houston, and Demi Louise.

To celebrate the release, Collins will take to the stage at Sydney's Oxford Art Factory on May 14 to perform tracks from the album, alongside favourites from her catalogue. When purchasing tickets, fans can also add an additional donation to Secret Sounds Flood Aid, who are aiming to raise $1 million in one month to help rebuild the Northern Rivers of NSW and Southeast QLD. The singer will be bringing along Little Green and Sarah Wolf for the performance.
