Watch our interview with Carla Wehbe!

Sydney-based artist Carla Wehbe has made her return with her new single, hurts to love you. The track serves as the first release under the singers freshly announced signing to Warner Music Australia.

Created with Norwegian songwriters Jim Bergsted and Helge Moemthat, hurts to love you brings the singers nostalgic approach to pop with the synth-drenched track built upon a driving beat as Wehbe's signature smooth and pure pop vocals taking centre stage. Laced with confessional and relatable lyricism, the song explores juxtaposition between love and pain and feeling destroyed in the wake of heartbreak. The release arrives alongside an official visual, co-directed and co-edited by Wehbe, alongside Murli Dhir.

“It’s about losing someone that you care deeply about,” the singer still shares of the track. “You love them so much that it hurts too much to be close to them, so you have to separate yourself. And you realise that all the things you spoke about doing, or planned to do, aren’t going to happen anymore and you’re just going to have to live with that."

“I’ve been watching Carla’s growth for some time now, and she’s proved on her own terms what an incredibly important voice she has in the local artist community,” says Paul Harris(SVP A&R Warner Music Australasia). “Given the international reactions we have been getting from Carla’s songs, I’m confident that a very broad future is going to open up her from here on in. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to the Warner Music Australia roster.” Dan Rosen (President, Warner Music Australasia) adds, “She is an exceptional talent with a unique and authentic voice and we cannot wait for music fans around Australia and the world to hear her music. As we continue to grow and evolve our local roster, Carla is going to play an integral part of that vision.”

Exploring every facet of her creativity, Wehbe is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, taking control over every piece of art she creates. She is also a hugely talented photographer and videographer and is set to launch her own clothing label in the not too distant future. Last year, the singer released debut EP Half Past Nine, which explores themes of love, the juxtaposition of beauty, human connection and the vulnerability of living out your own truth.
