Local legends Ball Park Music have shared their sizzling new single, Sunscreen. The release serves as the first taste of new music since the release of their 3 x ARIA Award nominated self-titled studio album, which arrived exactly one year ago.

Recorded and produced by the band, the track brings the bands signature shimmering indie-rock sonics, with frontman Sam Cromack's captivating vocals swelling above mesmerising production. “This is a classic example of what I like to call a patchwork song,” shares Cromack.

“From nowhere, and for no particular reason, you suddenly assemble a song from all these unrelated sketches that you haven’t been able to finish. Songs like this always make me nervous because I get lured into thinking that perhaps they’re inauthentic; that there’s no theme or through-line. But songs like this are cool, they work in a mysterious way. Their fragmented lines come from all over your mind to congregate and share some special message that’s been dying to get out. Sometimes it feels fateful even. This song was like a slap in the face. It said, ‘Hey bozo you’re hopelessly addicted to your phone. Time to put that shit down!’. So, here it is. Sunscreen. Protect yourself out there!”

Scoring three nominations at this years ARIA Awards, each song on Ball Park Music record holds its own space as an individual piece of art, however still feels threaded together to create a standout record from the band. Its eclectic nature doesn’t hinder the timeless qualities of the tracks, with Cromack's honest, relatable and conversational lyricism as potent as ever. He effortlessly crafts and weaves together themes that are cross-generational, yet also feel specific to differing demographics.
