Perth duo amor. have followed up their debut with their new single, Smoke Rise. The track features Broome-born rapper Kayps, who recently won Triple J Unearthed High's Indigenous Initiative.
Vocalist Aidan Walsh's (Outlnd) dreamy vocals float above spatial and atmospheric production from Dylan Guy, driven by an alt-R&B beat. The track centres itself around a brutal breakup, with heart-wrenching lyricism laced throughout that expressively captures the emotional trauma of the moment. Kayps enters mid-track with his captivating flow, delivering a performance that perfectly accompanies Walsh's vulnerable vocals.
"The track was inspired by a real life scenario involving a break up scene in the backseat of a car in an empty parking lot amidst pouring rain. In retrospect it could’ve looked like a scene out of a movie to passers by and set the scene for the track when the writing process began." the duo share of the song.
Smoke Rise is out now.
