Watch our interview with Ben Lee!
Australian indie-pop singer-songwriter Ben Lee is back with his new single, Born For This Bullshit. We caught up with the musician to chat about the release, the songs wonderfully wild visual, his forthcoming seventeenth album I'M FUN! and so much more.
Bringing tongue-in-cheek lyricism to the track, Born For This Bullshit introduces a country twang into the musicians overall indie-rock soundscape, Conceptually, the release is all about staying positive and not letting the negativity get you down, be that petty gossip, things not going your way or even a global pandemic.
Following years of paving the way as an independent artist, the musician has also signed an international deal with Warner Music, who will release his forthcoming album, I’M FUN!. Made remotely, Lee enlisted a number of producers on the record, including Jon Brion, Shamir, Sadie Dupuis and Darren Seltmann and guests Zooey Deschanel, Christian Lee Hutson, Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Megan Washington, Georgia Maq and Eric D Johnson.
The country-tinged release arrives alongside a green screen heavy visual, directed by Byron Spencer. Unlike any visual we've seen from Lee before, the striking visual is made complete with flying pigs, a human-dragon hybrid, a sea of bubbles, and of course, a scantily clad, superimposed Ben Lee. The musician shared with MILKY he's given full creative control to Spencer, with the artist creating a number of visuals for the record.
I’M FUN! is out June 17 2022. Watch our interview with Ben Lee above.
