5 THINGS KATANAK IS MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ABOUT TOURING

Weigh Down is out now!

Brisbane artist Katanak has shared his new single, Weigh Down, ahead of his regional Queensland tour. To celebrate the release and run of shows, the musician has shared with MILKY what he is most looking forward to about hitting the road.

Heralded by the musicians dynamic vocal performance, Weigh Down navigates his own fears and anxieties surrounding who he wants to be and the path to his dreams. Self-produced by Katanak and recorded with Jared Adlam (Caligula’s Horse, Mitch King, Aleyce Simmonds), the musician penned the track following his experience portraying bassist Jerry Scheff in Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming film, ELVIS.

“A while back I was really feeling like I’d lost my way and was questioning expectations I felt had been imposed on me. It felt a lot like I was falling and just couldn’t get up. I wasn’t the person I was supposed to be and my music didn't seem to be on track? It took a concerted effort to get over this and Weigh Down was a cry of frustration that helped me verbalise how I felt.” the musician shares of the track.

Kicking off in Cairns on April 29, Katanak's regional Queensland tour is set to visit Townsville, Mackay, Maroochydore and Toowoomba, before wrapping up in Brisbane on May 28. Tickets are on sale now!

PLAYING IN CAIRNS, TOWNSVILLE, MACKAY, MAROOCHYDORE & TOOWOOMBA.

I haven’t been up to North Queensland before so I'm looking forward to seeing a few local haunts. I’m going live on instagram with all the local bands I’m playing with at each location and getting all my local tips from them. Follow my instagram, join us for a chat and meet the bands I'm playing with.

ACTUALLY PLAYING SHOWS AGAIN

Being able to be face to face with people that enjoy music and want to come out to support. Shows in the past two years have been few and far between. So not only getting to play, but tour, is something I’ve been not only looking forward to but planning for a very long time.

THE PEOPLE AND THE BANDS

This tour is going to be full on. I work full time and we'll be playing Friday and Saturday and then jumping on a plane to get back for work Monday morning. It'll be hard work but nothing soothes that like hanging with some awesome people on the road and at the shows. I’m really looking forward to making some good friends with the local bands up in regional Queensland.

THE FOOD

I’m a big foodie and really love a good feed so being able to try a heap of new food is going to be a good time. Might have to make a secondary food tasting tour as well as my music one.

THE TRAVEL

Covid has killed a lot of things including travel so I’m just happy to get out there again and see my small part of the world and try something out of the ordinary. We've made the decision to book hostels all the way and some of those hostels are beachfront! Can it get any better!
