Denver-based indie rock band Mainland Break have returned with their first instance of new music for 2025; a double A-side encasing tracks I Give In and Endlessly.

Long-time fans of the Australian indie music scene, the band take great inspiration and influence from an array of local acts, and their personal brand of gritty yet melancholic indie rock has drawn comparisons to the likes of Floodlights, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and RVG.

To celebrate the release, and In honour of their love for the Australian scene, Mainland Break have picked out 5 Australian tracks that they’ve been loving.

OKAY – GIRL AND GIRL

We can’t get enough of Girl and Girl’s wound-up energy and emotive lyrics. Their new single does not disappoint.

NEW HIGH –  DUST

dust’s utterly cool post punk has been playing on repeat for us since their release of et cetera, etc. “New High” comes out swinging and to great effect.

SELF HELP – DUMB THINGS

Dumb Things have just launched a great third LP that is studded with jangly, slacker tunes. We can’t resist the singalong chorus and intertwining guitar lines.

I LOVE ME – JACQUI LUMSDEN

Jacqui Lumsden has wowed us again with her new single “I Love Me.” We love her nimble vocals and catchy synths.

RAT – PARAQUAY

Paraquay has bottled up some raw energy and a monster riff in this new track. It’s almost too big to be contained, but they’ve done it and it has a spot in our heavy rotation.
