Appearing on Good Morning America earlier today, the musician shared with fans the new edition of her sophomore album Fearless will Be the first album to be released, with the singer revealing Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will feature six songs from the record that ended up on the cutting room floor before its 2009 release.
Whilst Swift has transitioned from country musics sweetheart to worldwide pop phenomenon since the release of Fearless, the new recordings will remain faithful to the original production, with the first song becoming available this afternoon at 4pm AEST. Keeping with the original albums release, Swift will unveil her updated recording of her breakout hit Love Story as the first single. Fearless earned the singer her first win for Album of the Year at the GRAMMY Awards, and is the most awarded country music album of all time.
“fearless was an album full of magic and curiosity, the bliss and devastation of youth. it was the diary of the adventures and explorations of a teenage girl who was learning tiny lessons with every new crack in the facade of the fairytale ending she‘d been shown in the movies. i’m so thrilled to tell you that my new version of fearless is done and will be with you soon. it’s called fearless (taylor’s version) and it includes 26 songs.” the musician shared in a statement on her social media platforms.
The musician seemed cryptically reveal the albums April 9th release date within the statement shared across her social channels, capitalising certain letters to spell out a message. Swift was known for doing this within the album booklets of her earlier records, with each song revealing its own hidden message.
In 2019, after the private sale of the masters of her first six studio albums, Swift announced she planned to re-record the albums in an attempt to devalue the original masters. Having not been offered the chance to purchase the masters herself, Swift’s former label sold their catalogue to Scooter Braun, in a move that Swift stated “Stripped me of my life’s work”. As of November last year, Swift has been able to begin re-recording her first five albums.
Fans can pre-order Fearless (Taylor’s Version) from the singers website, with a variety of new merchandise available. The album is also available on a limited edition gold vinyl pressing, and cassette.
