Irish-born, London-based musician Cian Ducrot has dropped your favourite new break-up anthem, Chewing Gum. Produced by Ducrot and collaborator George Gianluca Cunningham, the release is the latest in a string of singles from the singer.
The bouncy and upbeat track juxtaposes bright sonics with tragic lyricism as the singer navigates the demise of a relationship, and coming to terms with the harrowing truth that it is no longer sustainable. The tracks accompanying visual captures the declining state of a relationship, directed by Elliot Paco-Dixton.
On the track, Ducrot shares, “‘Chewing Gum’ was an idea that came one day when I was sitting on the tube, listening to a breakup song where the singer slags off the other person. I was so sick of hearing songs do that, so I decided I wanted to write the opposite. I just wanted to make something fun and lighthearted without placing any blame and that’s what we did!”
Chewing Gum is out now! Watch the music video below.
