Norwegian alternative pop songstress AURORA has unveiled her highly anticipated third studio album, The Gods We Can Touch. The shimmering collection of songs is inspired by Greek mythology and traverses themes of shame, desire and morality.
Across the fifteen tracks, AURORA introduces listeners to a number of different gods who embody each track. Giving In To The Love was inspired by Prometheus and the tale of the Greek God using fire to sculpt humans, where as A Dangerous Thing captures the persuasive and seductive characteristics of Peitho. Teaming up with French artist Pomme on Everything Matters, the duo explore the juxtaposition between seduction and destruction, with moments of endurance representing Atlas. Bringing her signature mesmerising vocals to the body of work, paired with thought-provoking lyricism, the enchanting release weaves together electro-driven sonics with more organic moments, creating a spellbinding listening experience.
“The spiritual door between the human and the gods is a very complicated thing. In the right hands faith can become the most beautiful thing. Nurturing and warm. And in the wrong hands it can become a beacon of war and death. One thing that has always bothered me is the idea that we’re born unworthy, having to deem ourselves worthy by suppressing the forces within us that make us human. Not perfect, not flawless, just human. Could we find this Divine power in ourselves, while still being attached and seduced to the wonders of the world. The flesh, the fruit and the wine. I think that is what intrigues me about the Greek gods. The gods of the ancient world. Perfectly imperfect. Almost within our reach. Like gods we can touch.” Aurora details.
To celebrate the release, the singer will take to the stage for a worldwide digital experience, presented by premium live digital platform Moment House, on January 25. The event will see the singer perform tracks from The Gods We Can Touch live for the very first time, with the one-night-only event available to stream across North and South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Europe and Africa. Tickets are on sale now!
