Perth hitmakers Spacey Jane have dropped another banger, Lunchtime. The track follows up their previous single Lots Of Nothin, and arrives just in time for their WA tour, including a show Perth’s acclaimed Red Hill Auditorium.
The Fremantle four-piece continue their brand of catch indie-rock sonics, working with Grammy Award- winning music producer Rich Costey (The Killers, Phoebe Bridgers). Vibrant soundscapes home the bands introspective and deep lyricism, conceptually observing life as it passes you by.
Speaking of the track, frontman Caleb Harper shares: “I wrote this song while experiencing severe hangover anxiety and feeling extremely hopeless. It’s fun to juxtapose fast upbeat instrumentation with somber lyrics and themes. I’m trying to explain how I feel like I’m just going through the motions with love, career, friends and family. I felt like everything was just happening because it had to and not because I cared about it.”
The release arrives alongside an official visual, directed by Matt Sav. We follow Harper as he arrives home for a meal with his bandmates, before he opens the door to another realm and is met by some ominous apparitions.
Lunchtime is out now! Watch the visual below.
