Australian pop superstar Ruel has made his grand return, sharing his new single GROWING UP IS _____. The musician has shared an exclusive live performance of the track, available to watch on YouTube Shorts.
Capturing the uneasy transition from adolescence to adulthood and the new responsibilities that follow, the reflective track sees the musician at the top of his game, delivering introspective and reflective lyricism, with emotional relatable undertones. Ruel's vocals command attention above dynamic sonics, heralded by mesmerising guitar work.
Speaking of new music, the musician shares: “I know I’m born to be a writer and a musician — that’s what I love and am supposed to do. But I’ve been trying to figure out what sort of person I want to be while doing that. So this song and the new songs coming are me awake at night looking at the ceiling thinking, ‘What is my purpose? Why am I here? What is the best way to live life?”
To celebrate the release, the musician is asking fans to get involved and create their own YouTube Short. Ruel wants you to finish the sentence “growing up is...” and share it with the world on the platform, in your own unique and creative way. Use the hashtag #ShortsRuel in your post for the chance to be featured on the singers social media platforms.
“The idea of the underline at the end of the title was to try to explain that everyone has a different experience growing up,” explains Ruel. “Everyone has ups and downs, but because it’s never just one thing, I couldn’t just give it one word and wanted to leave it open for interpretation.”
