Melbourne band Polarize are sharing the first song in their new series of releases under their ‘housebound sessions’.
Complete with catchy guitar riffs, bursts of synthesised sounds and an entrancing spoken word performance, the psychedelic tinged track references the current state of the world. The song was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, with each band member recording their parts individually before sending them to Simon Dodds for mixing. Opening with the line “I can’t think of a single thing to do today”, the band have voiced a thought we all found ourselves contemplating during the isolation period.
Of their new track, the band shared: “Thought it’d be fun idea to put some music out recorded entirely at home. Seeing as we can’t all get together, we recorded all our parts separately then sent them off to the infamous Simon Dodd for mixing. There’s more to come in the series, maybe some covers maybe some more oddball songs. The first of the ‘housebound sessions’ is a song about being stuck inside all day with nothing to do but write songs. Kinda tongue in cheek. Very meta.”
Bursting onto the scene in 2018 with their debut single Do What You Want, the band have gone on to release a handful of singles. Touring extensively throughout Melbourne, the band quickly grew a live following.
