Sydney four-piece Iain T. McKelvey & The Midnight Tangos are gearing up to drop their new single, Who I Was. If you’re like us and can’t wait, listen to the track right here on MILKY before its release!

Weaving together influences of folk, blues, country and classic rock, Who I Was offers up moments of introspective intimacy, conceptually dissects past decisions that made you who you were, and influence your present self. McKelvey's mesmerising vocals brood atop piano work from Carl Manwarring (River Dreams) with saxophone and violin from Billy Ward (Joseph Liddy & The Skeleton Horse), working together to create a melancholy soundscape draws the listener in.

"This song is a special one. It’s hard to face yourself sometimes, just who it is you were or are becoming. Not necessarily in a negative way. But If your shadow is going to stick around, I wanted a song that you could at least slow dance with it to." McKelvey shares with MILKY.

The third release from the group, the four-piece recorded the song with Ben Moore (Tim Rogers, Sarah Blasko, Le Pie, Julia Why), a collaborative relationship that began with the bands debut single, Carrington Road. To celebrate the release, Iain T. McKelvey & The Midnight Tangos will return to the state later this morning, performing two single launch shows at Sydney's Waywards on November 27th. With support from Doctor Goddard and Lady Lyon, tickets are on sale now.
