Your new favourite rock super group is here! Forming all the way back in 2017, The Jaded Hearts Club brings together Australia’s own Nic Cester (Jet) and Miles Kane (The Last Shadow Puppets) on frontmen duties, guitarists Graham Coxon (Blur) and Jamie Davis with Matt Bellamy (Muse) on bass and drummer Sean Payne (The Zutons).

After playing a handful of gigs since their formation, the super group have announced their debut album You’ve Always Been Here, set to be released this October! Along with the announcement, the band shared two tracks. Reach Out I’ll Be There sees Cester take the lead on the Four Tops’ 60’s Motown cover. The band also released their rendition of Vera Lynn’s classic, We’ll Meet Again, in which Bellamy lends his vocals on the beautiful cover.

Recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic, Producer and bass player Bellamy started with a groovy baseline before Dom Howard recorded drums outdoors on a mountain overlooking Hollywood. From there the track made its way to London where Coxon recorded his guitar parts before finally ending up in Italy where Cester recorded his growling lead vocals. Bellamy & Cester supplied backing vocals on the track, with Bellamy saying, “I couldn’t believe how complex the Backings vocals were! It was like Queen with diminished and classical harmonies plus emotional gospel notes bending added so it took a while to work it out”.

For the album, Bellamy and Davis spent countless hours researching which material they wanted to feature on the record. The band hope to bring new life to classic tracks with their raw and soulful takes tracks from the world of Northern Soul. “Living in L.A. it seems like no-one has heard of Northern Soul,” says Davis. “We just love the story of how the north of England fell in love with American soul music even after it stopped having hits, and using that music as the soundtrack to a good night out.” Bellamy added, “The Jaded Hearts Club is continuing the tradition of how bands like The Beatles and The Stones started out - finding great soul and blues standards and recording them in a more modern style.”

You’ve Always Been Here is out October 2nd. Watch the video for Reach Out I’ll Be There below!
