Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Jacob Fitzgerald is back with his new single, Pretty Good For My Mind.
Switching gears to bright, pop-infused sonics, the track tells the tale of two young lovers meeting for the first time, a tale inspired by Fitzgerald's parents. Bringing a storytelling approach to vivid and witty lyricism, Pretty Good For My Mind places the musicians vocals centre stage, with his smooth and captivating performance ringing throughout the track. Made complete with animated vocoder backing vocals, infectious melodies are laced throughout, with warm guitars driving the song.
Speaking of the track, the musician shares: “All my life I’ve been told my Dad was a hot-headed rebel and that my Mum was the beautiful, calming influence that made him get it together! I’ve never really seen that side of my father, so I found it to be quite romantic and poetic that after meeting on the dancefloor as teens, they came together, grew as people and built a whole life. Whilst this track is conceptually about how my folks met, the overall message is that our partner should bring out the best in us. They should be good for our minds!”
Fitzgerald made his debut in 2018 with his single Adore Ya, followed up by his debut studio album, Whole & Broken, in 2019. Since then, the musician released a string of singles last year, and has cemented his place as one of Melbourne's most exciting emerging artists.
