Bosnian/Australian artist Hector Gachan and Sydney neo soul artist Butter Bath and Hector Gachan have teamed up to bring you You'll Find Me, Beija Flor. The Nice Guys Records label mates are bringing laid-back vibes to soundtrack your lockdown.
Recorded in Butter Bath's bedroom studio, the psych-infused track is built upon breezy sonics, creating the perfect moment for those warm summer nights that are just around the corner. Simmering with lo-fo guitar lines and mesmerising vocals, the track unites each artists sonic exploration, brought together in one groove-laden soundscape.
Speaking of the process behind the release, Butter Bath shares: "You’ll Find Me, Beija Flor was written in my Sydney home studio over the course of a few days. We’d end up spending the first hour or so of each session discussing both the beauty and turmoil of the world we live in. The song likens it to a wild river that you are simultaneously in awe of and frightened by."
"We didn’t go into the track with anything particular in mind. We were making it up as we were going along. In that process though, we listened to each other’s suggestions through a call and response like manner via songwriting. For example in the chorus, we showed each other new chords. Lyrically it was much the same. One after the other we showed each other where we could take the song. Beija Flor is Portuguese for hummingbird. When I first heard the word I found it to be so beautiful. It sounded like spring. Growing up between Australia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, language has always been of a particular interest of mine. Noticing the beautiful differences. This is a subtle homage to all the incredible music of Brazil. From Joao Gilberto and Tom Jobim to Jorge Ben Jor and Ellis Regina." Gachan adds.
