Australian singer, songwriter and producer DRELLA has treated us with the visual for his debut single, Until The Morning. The musical project of Bobby Andonov, the track marks the first taste of the musicians forthcoming EP.
Directed by Grey Ghost, the visual follows the singer through a desolate carpark, capturing his charismatic and mesmerising performance. Throughout the visual and the track, DRELLA brings the sensual charisma of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence and vocals that could liked to Prince, existing within a striking alt-funk sonic realm that breaths fresh life into the Australian music scene.
Speaking of the track, DRELLA shares: “I started writing Until The Morning in my room, and then I got with my two music partners Dylan Bauld and Sam Watters to finish it. I love the way the minimal alt/funk production challenges my vocals creating a push and pull effect in the song. Once the song was complete, I bought Grey Ghost in to direct the video with me and he really killed it. The video makes the song feel complete. It was the first video we collaborated on and I can’t wait to see what we do next.”
Having spent time writing and producing tracks for other artists, Andonov returned to his childhood Melbourne home during the pandemic, where his brother challenged him with the task to write a song every day. This newfound time to fully immerse himself within his creative process, resulting in the musical exploration we hear today.
