Australian singer, songwriter and producer DRELLA has dropped his new single, Night Crawls. The musical project of Bobby Andonov, the musicians name is an amalgamation of Dracula and Cinderella, offering insight into the dark and beautiful exploration of his music.
Across the magnetic release, Andonov's beguiling vocals dart between chilling falsetto tones and booming vocals, presenting a mesmerising performance above atmospheric sonics. The dynamic and textural track is built upon plucked bass lines and scintillating production, heralded by lush engulfing harmonies.
Speaking of the track, DRELLA shares: “Night Crawls felt special even from the early demos. It was the first song I wrote going back to LA. I wanted to create this darkly beautiful track, but then fuck it up with funk.”
Having spent time writing and producing tracks for other artists, Andonov returned to his childhood Melbourne home during the pandemic, where his brother challenged him with the task to write a song every day. This newfound time to fully immerse himself within his creative process, resulting in the musical exploration we hear today.
